Limited edition controller pad for the Xbox 360

August 21st, 2008 by Nikki

Good news for all Xbox lovers, Microsoft will launch a new Xbox controller, with a fantastic new d-pad, if you’re waiting to get your hands on one of these you will not be able to until later this year when it comes out in the UK and Europe.

The launch of the new pad which is said to be on October 24 will be optimized for Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer game rather than be an update for all users.

Microsoft told gaming website Eurogamer that “The new limited-edition green wireless controller offers enhancements to d-Pad functionality, which will add to the experience of playing games where the d-Pad is the primary control mechanism”

Looks like the Uk is one step ahead of the U.S. in getting their hands on this bright green limited addition controller, it’s said we will be getting it along side Latin America and Asia.

Of course we will be here on hand to give you the latest on its release date in the U.S.

iPhone meets SearchMonkey and Search Assist

August 20th, 2008 by Arash-R

You know what they always say: "if you get tapped to do a quick stealth-mode project, you might as well do it while lounging around the River Seine." Thanks to some adept coding work by Ryan Grove and UED design work by Tom Chi and Jeremy Hubert — voilà, we now have Yahoo! Search for iPhone!

For more information, check out Ryan's more detailed writeup. There's also a pretty slideshow of iPhone SRP screenshots, for those of us who live in technological squalor and still don't have an iPhone.

True Story of the Laptop that saved SGT Steven W. Clark’s life

August 20th, 2008 by Daniel

Back in February of last year we posted information about a laptop that took a bullet and saved a soldier’s life. This was a massive story at the time and even made it to the homepage of Digg.

Today we have heard directly from SGT Steven W. Clark of the 101st Airborne. You can read what he sent in to us below.

The Toughbook belong to a member of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault)…Me…. I am sick of this story getting messed up. It was hit in the back of my M998 HMMWV in Mosul, IZ on 9 June 2003. It was hit in the hard drive by a 7.62 x 54R round from a PKC belt fed machine gun from a distance of 250 meters. I took a round in the shoulder. All the info from the hard drive was recovered, placed on a new hard drive and sent back too me by October 2003. The round went trough two boxes of MRE’s and the carrying case before being stopped by the thick disk, non-removable hard drive. Whoever this 82nd guy is full of it. This computer is sitting in the Ft. Huachuca, AZ Military Intel Museum with my name and “101st Airborne Screaming Eagles” next to it!!!
