Apparently the next big thing to hit the mobile scene is the mobile coupon, and Cellfire is right up there in the forefront of this rapidly expanding mobile market. Cellfire, the mobile coupon and discount offer service a little while ago introduced Cellfire 3.0, which is apparently even more powerful than before.
What does Cellfire 3.0 offer the customer? Here are a few things… Rich User Experience - filtering offers by category for easier finding of an appropriate deal; Seamless web-phone integration - you can browse, sort, and select Cellfire offers both online and using your mobile phone. Any changes made are simultaneously reflected across both platforms; Clip 2 Mobile Offer Discovery and Capture - allows users to discover mobile coupons featured by Cellfire advertisers within both interactive and traditional media. As they do, they can “clip” the mobile coupon with a simple command and the selected offer is automatically saved in the user’s Cellfire Saved Offers page, where the offer can be easily accessed and redeemed in the future.

And what about the advertiser? The new Cellfire 3.0 version brings… One to One Offers - Advertisers can deliver unique offers to individuals that have previously interacted with their offers on Cellfire; Dynamic Targeting - Advertisers can target offers by age, gender, location and other attributes, ensuring their offers are most relevant to their intended audience; Mobilize Traditional and Interactive Media - allows merging of both traditional and interactive media to reach a wider audience. The advertisement source is tracked as consumers respond and capture offers, enabling advertisers to learn which advertisements are most effective in driving transactions.
If you are into mobile coupons then maybe Cellfire 3.0 is for you, it is currently available to more than 170 million mobile phones.

Philips is to be rolling out their Xenium X800 all-touch-screen equipped mobile phone in the near future, it has already received FCC approval, so could be due quite soon. So what can we expect from the Philips Xenium X800?
Well the X800 offers up a 29.inch 240 x 400 QVGA TFT touch-screen, 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900, WAP 2.0 x HTML, MP3/MPEG4/WAV/AAC music player, Java MIDP 2.0, SMS, EMS, MMS, Bluetooth, the much admired microSD transflash memory card slot, 1250 mAh battery which brings the user up to 8 hours of talk time and 850 hours of standby time.

Unfortunately there is again a lack of 3G and Wifi and even EDGE connectivity with the Philips Xenium X800 mobile phone which will possible kill the deal with a lot of people, and it also probably indicates the Philips Xenium X800 is destined only for the Asian market.

Personally it looks an attractive mobile phone, but with lacking all that high juice connectivity it certainly won’t stand up against the abundance of mobile phone soon to hit the market such as the Apple iPhone 3G, the Samsung Instinct, and Samsung Omnia. One can only hope that Philips set a price tag accordingly and make it immensely affordable, and then probably people may consider it as a secondary mobile phone.

Word is out that Samsung is to launch a new rugged style candy-bar design mobile phone, the GT-B2700, which has been certified to be resistant to dust and water. Samsung’s idea is to take on this relatively underserved and often neglected mobile market and bring to the mobile user a stylishly designed, rugged mobile phone.
Apparently, if you noticed the number now starts with GT rather than the usual Samsung SGH, this shows that the mobile phone is GSM and is first in a new line for Sansung.
Spec wise potential buyers shouldn’t be expecting the high end features of a modern smartphone but the Samsung GT-B2700 offers, quad-band GSM/GPRS+EDGE radio, 1.9 inch 176 x 220 pixel screen, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio and RDS, music player, in-built altimeter and compass, 30MB of internal memory, the good old microSD slot, and a 1300 mAh battery.

The Samsung GT-B2700 measures 115 x 52 x 18mm, and unfortunately doesn’t support video calling or second camera, however the rugged appearance should attract customers. The GT-B2700 has been tested for durability to the IP54 level which means dust particles larger than 1mm cannot enter the phone, and that it is resistant to water splash.
The Samsung GT-B2700 rugged mobile phone should be available in Czechoslovakia sometime during the summer at a price of roughly $330 USD, about 210 EUR.

The computer users of the world have been getting more interested in open source and free software for some time now and Microsoft’s new Equipt subscription service is aimed at defending the Office franchise.
As we reported the other day, the pricing model for Equipt will be $69.99 per year and you get a lot of software for the money that can be accessed by up to three computers.
Circuit City have got the exclusive rights to Equipt beginning mid-July and it’s hoped by Microsoft that the convenience of Equipt will stop some Office users moving towards the open source or free software route.
There is a lot of competition for Microsoft and that’s why this new service was needed to keep them in the game, as IBM is offering Lotus Symphony free and also other brands have similar free Office software packages.
The sales results for Office products have shown a downward pattern and the last quarter saw Office products among consumers drop 39%.
Will you use the new Equipt subscription service or do you have another favorite?

Chine Mobile has the most subscribers, but Vodafone, in terms of revenue is the largest mobile operator in the world today, and it seems they want to remain that way, because Vodafone is now acquiring a whopping seventy percent stake in leading Ghana’s telecommunications operator, Ghana Telecom, purchasing from the government of Ghana for the princely sum of $900 million; the Ghana government will keep hold of the remaining thirty percent of Ghana Telecom.
Ghana Telecom is the number three mobile player with roughly seventeen percent of the market share, along with 1.4 million subscribers based on figures as of March 31st 08. Also Ghana Telecom lead in fixed line and broadband with around ninety-nine percent of the total number of lines with roughly ninety percent market share within the retail ASDL market; whilst Ghana Telecom’s revenue grew nine point three percent to $290 million during last year.
Apparently it is Vodafone’s plan to leverage their experience of rapid network deployment in India along with other emerging markets, and holds hopes to see Ghana Telecom’s market share rise in the region of twenty-five percent over time.
Vodafone is spreading its wings, already being the largest in the world in terms of revenue; one wonders just how long it will take for them to become the largest in subscribers as well, not long if they continue acquiring companies I should think.

YouTube is an amazing site and one that has changed the way web users watch videos; people will now listen to music by playing different YouTube videos on their home computers and on the move via cell phones like the Apple iPhone.
Today we hear that a U.S. judge has ordered Google Inc to hand over YouTube user data to Viacom Inc, this has caused outcry from some web users because of privacy fears.
Viacom owns MTV Networks and Paramount and they are currently in the middle of a $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit against YouTube.
What would worry some YouTube users is the fact that the Southern District of New York Judge wants information on users IP addresses, what videos they watched, usernames of YouTube viewers and more for evidence.
The difficult part is being able to ensure personally identifiable information is secure and to comply with the court order, some blogs are claiming that this order will violate the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act.
Viacom has said in a statement that they have no plans on identifying individual users and just want to show video piracy patterns in the court case against YouTube.

This is the ASRock A780FullDisplayPort Motherboard and while it performs as well as the ASUS 780G motherboard, its lack of HDMI and bad placement of onboard connectors make it a little hard to recommend over the other 780G Micro-ATX boards.
With AMD’s 780G chipset getting a lot of good press Tweak Town thought they would give the ASRock A780FullDisplayPort Motherboard a hands-on review and the results have been covered over 13 pages.
In their final thoughts they said, “ASRock’s latest series of boards have been reasonably impressive, however we still have a few issues with the layout of this particular board. First, the locations of the power connectors need a bit of work. Even for a cheap board, it’s still not acceptable.
ASRock has managed to bring some good prices to the market with their latest series of boards; while we didn’t get the full retail package with this board, we aren’t expecting a huge amount of additional features in the box. What was disappointing was not having the DisplayPort card included, which eliminated this from testing.
Overall, the board has good potential for a HTPC as long as you’re not after 5.1 audio or HDMI”
